Craft community development policies and strategies for the Emirate of Sharjah, in collaboration with the relevant government and non-government organizations.

Deliver precise and dependable statistics across various sectors economic, social, health, population, agriculture, environment, energy and more to inform decision makers, federal and local departments, the public, the media and researchers.

Regulate statistical work in Sharjah

Oversee and enhance statistical practices in the Emirate of Sharjah to ensure data quality and effectiveness.

Actively participate in social development by continuously monitoring social changes and addressing the diverse needs of the community including security, social, health, cultural, economic and other areas.

Strategic Planning and Coordination

Develop plans aligned with the approved strategy.
Coordinate statistical work programs across Sharjah with government departments and the National Center for Statistics.

Data Management

Collect, classify, store, and analyze statistical data in collaboration with government departments.
Create and maintain up-to-date statistical databases covering various fields, including economics, social issues, health, population, agriculture, environment, and energy.

Adherence to Standards

Apply internationally recognized professional and technical standards in all areas of statistical work and community development

National Accounts

Prepare and issue national accounts to measure macroeconomic variables within Sharjah.

Quality Control

Ensure the quality of statistical work and data analysis, especially data received from other government institutions.

Promoting Statistical Awareness

Foster a statistical culture by developing media plans and programs to raise awareness of statistics and community development.

Community Development System

Develop and manage an integrated system for community development in partnership with governmental, non-governmental, and specialized organizations.
Monitor and report on the activities and outcomes of community development institutions.

Support for Community Development Authorities

Provide necessary statistical data and information to help authorities prioritize and plan effectively.

Implementation and Monitoring

Oversee the execution of the annual statistical surveys plan in the Emirate.

Modern Statistical System

Build and enhance a modern statistical system that ensures smooth data flow from field and administrative sources.
Keep the system updated to reflect economic, social, and technological developments.

Surveys and Censuses

Conduct comprehensive censuses and surveys in various sectors, ensuring they align with national efforts.
Prepare and provide accurate, consistent, and up-to-date data, information, and statistical indicators, and publish them through various channels.

Standardization and Collaboration

Standardize statistical methodologies and practices across the Emirate in coordination with the National Center for Statistics.
Conduct joint surveys with the National Center for Statistics as needed.

Representation and Training

Represent Sharjah in statistical matters in collaboration with the National Center for Statistics.
Provide government departments with training, technical support, and advice in statistics and community development.

General Census

Conduct a general census every ten years or as directed by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah or the Executive Council, covering areas such as housing, population, economy, and society.

Leading Practices and Proposals

Adopt best practices in community development and propose plans to the Ruler of Sharjah or the Executive Council, aligning them with UAE and Sharjah’s sustainability goals.

Statistical Approvals and Consultation

Issue approvals for surveys and data requests, offer information services, and provide technical consultation and training related to the department’s expertise.
